Holistic Veterinarian Recommends Longlife Program

Dr. Tobin, DVM Dr. Stephen Tobin is a holistic veterinarian who provides treatment using homeopathic herbs and nutrition and runs a full-service veterinary clinic in Meriden, Connecticut. A member of The Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy, The National Center For Homeopathy, The Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, and The International Association For Veterinary Homeopathy, as well as past president of The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Tobin lectures and publishes on animal care regularly. As our lead veterinarian, he provides valuable advice on our supplements and makes recommendations regarding which Longlife Program is best for your pet.

The principle behind our motto, "Quality of life equals Longlife", is echoed in Dr. Tobin's philosophy of animal care. He explains, "My goal in veterinary medicine is to make pets as comfortable as possible. Animals have shorter life spans than humans. In the time they're here, we want to make their lives as pleasant as we can."

Case Studies Indicate the Effectiveness of Longlife™

Dr. Tobin first tried Longlife for Dogs eight years ago, after he received a sample of the product in the mail. After observing promising initial results, he set up in-depth case studies to determine the extent of the benefits the Longlife Program promotes. Many of Dr. Tobin's patients with hip dysplasia and joint problems had been taking cosequin, glucosamine, or chondroitin, and while some of them had improved with the use of these supplements, others had not. Whatever the condition of the dog before it was given Longlife for Dogs, however, further improvements were noted in almost all cases. "Every dog with joint problems that I've given Longlife for Dogs has improved," Dr. Tobin says. "Even if a dog had been doing pretty well on another supplement, he did better on the Longlife Program."

While Dr. Tobin has concentrated his use of Longlife in dogs with joint problems, it is also an effective treatment program for a wide spectrum of animal disorders. Longlife Program products have been tested together and have been proven to provide maximum protection, provide necessary vitamins and minerals, help promote a healthy coat, prevent dry and itchy skin, protect joints, and fight against the ravages of age, environmental pollution, and poor diet.

Our Newest Product: Organic Flax Seed Oil

Boosts the effectiveness of our shark cartilage capsules and offers added benefits.

organic flax seeds We at Longlife have recently introduced our new Canine Skin Supplement, made from high-grade organic flax seed, to treat skin disorders specifically. We also have a similar product in development for felines. Omega-3 fatty acids help establish a healthy lipid barrier in the skin, which blocks infection and irritation. In dogs and cats that are deficient in fatty acids, the skin is often flaky and the coat is coarse. Dr. Tobin comments, "We've had very good success with omega-3 fatty acids, which are found primarily in flax seed oil and fish oil."

In dogs, easily digestible forms of omega-3 fatty acids have been correlated with higher levels of activity, healthier coats and skin, and strengthened resistance to disease. Cats, which are unable to convert the fatty acids in plants to a usable form, have to get almost all their nutrients from animal sources. Fish oil is the ideal source of these fatty acids for cats.

"Nutrition is the basis of health care, and it's greatly underutilized," says Dr. Tobin. "Most pet foods do not provide the nutrients that animals need." For both dogs and cats, Dr. Tobin favors a homemade diet of raw meat and bone, which most closely approximates the diet that an animal would consume in the wild.

In addition to adherence to an all-natural, high-protein diet, Dr. Tobin encourages the incorporation of the Longlife Program to supplement nutrients and ensure optimum health for your pet. "While animals that have been raised on a proper diet from a young age might not need a supplement," he explains, "if their diet is deficient or has been in the past, the Longlife Program helps fill in those gaps. In dogs with joint problems, for example, Longlife for Dogs stimulates cartilage production. I recommend combining use of the original supplement and the skin supplement to cover all your pet's bases nutrition-wise." These products have been designed to work together and tested for effectiveness when used in combination.

Omega-3 fatty acids are harder to come by, even in a raw food diet. Dr. Tobin says, "In an animal carcass, the greatest source of omega-3 fatty acids is in the nervous tissue, which is in the brain and spine. Especially with mad cow disease, it's very hard to obtain nervous tissue and provide it through the diet. The skin supplements, with flax seed oil and fish oil, are the best source of these fatty acids available."

"Animals suffer from the same disorders that humans do," he says,"and they rely on us to take care of them."
